Chris Brown Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and PTSD

According to E!:

According to legal documents obtained by E! News, the famous singer is believed to be suffering from bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The letter from the rehab facility states, “Mr. Brown will also require close supervision by his treating physician in order to ensure his bipolar mental health condition remains stable. It is not uncommon for patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar II to use substances to self-medicate their biomedical mood swings and trauma triggers.”

It continues, “Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD.”

The report also states that Brown “would like to inform the court that he appreciates what he has learned in the rehabilitation facility, as it has allowed him to change his life for the better,” and that “he remains thankful to the court for the opportunity to find out and learn about himself, his anger issues and the type of person he wants to become, which is a man who is able to better himself and be a positive role model.”

That’s right, Chris.  Life never really goes “as planned.”

I know I’ve had some harsh criticisms of Chris Brown in the past, but I am SO HAPPY that he is getting this help.  It’s not easy, and it’s even more difficult because it’s basically being done publicly.  The diagnoses make complete sense when taking his behavior into account.  Even looking at his on and off Twitter rants let you know something was going on.  Add a mental disorder mixed with alcohol and drugs and you’re gonna have those kinds of problems.

I’m behind him.  That is just too much talent, too much potential to do good and impact others for him to go down the road he was going.

Keep up the good work Chris! I’m rooting for you.

Wolfies on 249 in Houston, Texas

Yes.  This is what you (probably) think it is.  This is a post about a restaurant.

Hi.  My name is Tasha. I live in Houston, Texas.  I am addicted to love crawfish.  But my past few experiences at the Wolfies on 249 have collectively made me reconsider EVER going to this place again.

First. A few weeks ago I ordered some to go (this is what I do 90% of the time).  Got home and was ready.  Peeled that sucker without a second thought (it’s basically second nature to me by now) and popped it in my mouth.  I thought something was funny about it but I was like eh…it was a fluke.  Ate another one. Same thing.  Then I grabbed a third one and payed attention to what I was doing (didn’t eat any more of them).  I figured out what was funny. That one (the meat) was slimy.  I put it down.  Got another (and another and another and another).  Slimy.  And the thing (I’ve been told is the intestine) that is black and you’re supposed to pull out before you eat it?  Yeah.  It wasn’t even a solid with that one.  Liquid just fell out after I pulled the tail.  Turns out, the crawfish wasn’t cooked (correctly?).  PISSED.  In fact, pissed doesn’t even begin to explain what I was because I was also hungry.  The meat was slimy cause it was damn near raw.

I called Wolfies.  Spoke with the manager.  He handled it well.  Apologized, offered to give me a gift certificate or redo my order.  I chose redo my order.  Let me give a little history (cause I’m sure some of y’all are like WHAT).  When crawfish season hits, these people know me.  In fact, it’s to the point where I call and give my order and they are like, “Is this Tasha?”  I walk in and the bartenders know me by name (that’s where you used to pick up the to-go orders).  I have NEVER had a problem like this with them.  Ever.  I keep going back because I love them.  So yeah.

Ok.  End of experience one.

Next.  My homegirl and I went last weekend.  It was a crowd so I ended up having to wait for the table for about 35-40 minutes.  We got our table.  After we sat down I know we waited 15 minutes (at least) without getting any service. I had to ask about 3 waitresses if someone could PLEASE come and take our drink order or SOMETHING. So the waitress finally came over, we ordered our drinks, and were about to order our crawfish when she stopped us and said she could only sell 3 lbs to our table.

Me:

Excuse me, what?  My friend and I were both in shock.  I asked for the manager. He gave some kind of explanation.  Something about having only 40 lbs in the first place and wanted to make sure they had enough.

Sir.  I don’t care.  What you DON’T do is ration out crawfish.  TF kinda business are you running!? First come, first serve.  ESPECIALLY when your patrons have been waiting for about 45 minutes or more!?  Nah.  So we left.

Finally.  Tonight.  Called in a to-go order.  This is how it went on the phone.

Me: I’d like 3 lbs of crawfish, extra spicy, wi….
Waitress: You want extra spice ON the crawfish?
Me: What? I just want them extra spicy.
Waitress: Well you can have spice on the side or on it.
Me: *pause* I’ve never been asked this before.  I want the crawfish to be extra spicy AND I will order extra spice on the side.
Waitress: Okay….
Me:  3 lbs, extra spicy, corn and potatoes, two butters on the side and one extra spice

I get there and I noticed that I’ve been charged twice for extra spice, but only have one in the container.  That’s fine.  I point it out to her, tell her to just give me the extra one.  She informs me that the charge was for having to put extra spice ON TOP OF the crawfish.

I paused and was like:

Fine. WHATEVER. Again, I go here A LOT.  For the past 3 seasons I have NEVER had this charge.  Keep in mind, it was only 15 cents.  So I tell myself whatever and I go home.

The only problem was that when I got home it’s as if the crawfish had been dipped in water and then put in the container.  Almost ZERO spice.  Not the regular amount and DEFINITELY not the “extra” I was charged for.  Crawfish just naked.

I really only go to this one out of convenience.  It’s slightly closer to me than the one on 1960, and this one lets you call in your order (1960 doesn’t-you have to order and wait there ugh).  But I think I’m done with them.  I was able to get over the fact that you walk in and the barely dressed ladies don’t speak.  Like tonight, just sat there and continued their conversation until I stared at one like….

I hope this somehow gets back to whoever is in charge.  I hope y’all share it. Wolfies, y’all gotta do better.  This is unacceptable.  And you just lost a customer. SMH

Just to be clear I’m talking about:

Pharrell Responds to “GIRL” Cover Criticism

In case you didn’t know, Pharrell received some criticism for his “GIRL” cover.  If you want to read more, I wrote about it here.

He spoke with Global Grind and I was asked to give my opinion about what he had to say:

“My life is filled with black women,” Pharrell told GlobalGrind. “Black women running my company; I’m married to a black woman, and my mom, who is a black woman, is a huge force in my business.”

“There should be no misconceptions or anyone misconstruing anything when it comes to me and women. You should know me better than that. I’m all about diversity.”

“All one has to do is look at the ‘Happy’ video. We don’t discriminate. Like, never be confused as to my love for a black woman. I have love for all kinds of women.”

My feelings are the same as expressed in the tweets below that I put in the post linked above.

THIS. RIGHT. HERE.

I understand where people are coming from, but I honestly think that we can fight for black women to be represented in much more significant places than on album covers.  I applaud the work Pharrell has done for and with black women in more important and impactful areas other than album covers.

NeNe Leakes Q&A

This is happening on Twitter right now:

Ma’am.  Stop it.

CYNTHIA! HELLO!?  Do you see this?  Ch…

Hard to watch?  Perhaps cause you see how you got WORSE as a person in general?

But…that’s cause…nevermind.

“The brand” LOL

Actually, this makes sense.  This is the only explanation, really.

Wait….

I asked her for the names. LOL . No response yet tho.

Well.  This is…encouraging. I think.

Interesting.  That’s it for now.  I’ll keep watch.  We’ll see if something else pops up that’s of interest.

Is “Scandal” Still Good?

This was written in the comments section of my Scandal review on Facebook:

Real talk. After watching HOC, does scandal just seem to be not as entertaining as before?

Uh oh.

But.  Then I started to think.  If you haven’t seen “House of Cards” then you really can’t make the comparison.  It’s a brilliant show (although it is making me REALLY angry right now – I’m on episode 17).  Someone was starting on the first season of HOC and asked me if Scandal was as good (he hadn’t watched Scandal at all).  I had just completed the first season of HOC and I told him that this was the difference;  Scandal is good because of the relationship drama mixed in.  If that wasn’t in there to the extent that it is, then it probably wouldn’t do well.  HOC is good….just  because it’s good.  It’s brilliant.  Full of drama and twists and turns.  It’s just good.

Comparing the two, I see why HOC won at the Golden Globes and Scandal didn’t. I’m just being honest.

Now.  Don’t get me wrong.  I will still be tuned in every Thursday for my excuse to slide my morals to the side.  BUT.  Last night I found myself rolling my eyes at the part where Liv was saying she was going to resign and Fitz kissing her in the middle of her sentence.  I literally rolled my eyes.  Cause…I mean…this happens every single episode, right?  Also, I’m tired of the bits and pieces of Harrison’s story.  I almost don’t care.  Almost.  And if you’ve been following me for a little bit then you know I am not here for Quinn.  Her looking longingly out that window made me want to slit her throat my damn self.

Here’s my disclaimer.  Last night I was REALLY tired.  Between work and class, I was just exhausted.  Also, I was way over the loooooong wait for this show to come back on.  I just wasn’t anticipating it like I thought I would.  In fact, I honestly didn’t think I was going to watch it at all.  I told one of my classmates that I would catch it today and was just gonna go home and go to bed.  But we see that didn’t happen.  So yeah.  I had an attitude problem.

All in all, yes, I think “Scandal” is still good.  But…it’s not in the category of HOC.  That’s just the truth.  Both shows are extremely unrealistic, but HOC is kind of in a different place.   Scandal puts me in a “YASSSSSSSSSSSSS” place, while HOC puts me in a “OMG” place. That’s the best way I can explain it.  Plus, Scandal’s cast is sexy.  So that’s that.

What do you all think?
