St. Paul: Man arrested and tased for “Sitting While Black”

That’s literally what happened, here.  This man was arrested because he was sitting down in a public area, and was black.  Apparently, that makes some people uncomfortable.

The victim, Christopher Lollie, recorded his interaction with the police. At some point, he drops his phone and the video goes black while still recording the audio.

“Why do I have to let you know who I am?” the man asks the first female officer at the beginning of the video. “I don’t have to let you know who I am if I haven’t broken any laws.”

From the following dialogue, it appears the police were called by a store clerk, who was upset over the man sitting in front of his store. The man in the video tells the officer he was sitting in front of the store for 10 minutes as he waited for his kids to get out of school, and that the area is public and he had a right to sit there.

“The problem was —” the female officer begins.

“The problem is I’m black,” the man fires back. “It really is, because I’m not sitting there with a group of people. I’m sitting there by myself. By myself, not causing a problem.”

Eventually a second male officer approaches the man in the video and attempts to restrain him.

“I’ve got to go get my kids,” the man tells the second officer, pulling his arm away. “Please don’t touch me.”

“You’re going to go to jail then,” the second officer says.

“I’m not doing anything wrong,” the man replies.

At this point, both officers grab the man.

“Come on brother,” the man says, “This is assault.”

“I’m not your brother,” the second officer replies. “Put your hands behind your back otherwise it’s going to get ugly.”

Eventually the officers start to cuff the man and he drops his cellphone and the video goes black.

“I haven’t done anything wrong!” we hear the man yell. “Can somebody help me? That’s my kids, right there! My kids are right there!”

“Put your hands behind your back!” the male officer screams.

We hear the flicker of a Taser and the man screams out. As they move away from the cellphone, the man continues to plea to passersby to help him.

In the distance the scene calms down and the man continues to explain to the officers that he still hasn’t broken any laws, that he stayed calm, didn’t curse and wasn’t attempting to flee — making cuffing him and tasering him unnecessary.

“I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m a working man. I take care of my kids. And I get this?” we hear him say. “And you tase me. For what? I don’t have any weapons. You’re the ones with the weapons here.”

{TC Daily Planet}

I’m so sick of this. Sick of it. Black man, LITERALLY just sitting down. And white police officers end up tasing and arresting him? In front of his kids? Disgusting human beings.

Christopher has since said that the charges have been dropped against him, but THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Those cops shouldn’t have jobs anymore. At all. They profiled that man and used excessive force.

Here is a comment on the original article:

The way it should have gone: “Say, could you move on, the store owner is kinda…” “Officer, I am waiting for my kids, they should be here in a little while.” “OK, I’ll talk to the store owner, sorry to have bothered you.”

^^ THAT’S IT!!!! That was the ONLY reasonable response.

This comment received a reply that said…

And how do we truly know he was waiting for his kids. Just because he says he is. Then this is how it should’ve gone. Sir we got call about you hanging out in front of this store any reason for it? Him; I’m waiting to get my kids from New Horizon. Cop: Can we get some ID so we know who we are talking with and my partner can go to New Horizon and check to see if your kid(s) are on their way.

^^ This guy’s name is JM Griffin on Facebook, if you care.

I responded to Mr. Griffin:

JM Griffin You have some nerve. How dare you? EVEN IF he wasn’t waiting for his kids, HE HAS THE RIGHT TO SIT ON A PUBLIC BENCH!!

Suggesting that because he is sitting, the cops should ask him for ID? And I just LOVE how you automatically jump to the assumption that this black man was lying. To the point where you want the cops to go to the school and verify that his kids are there?

This man was doing NOTHING illegal. He was sitting down. Period. By himself. Period. The RIGHT thing to do was for the police go tell the ignorant store clerk that you cannot call the police because someone is sitting on a bench.

Willful ignorance is what you’re displaying, here. Unbelievable.

Ugh. Disgusting and vile human beings.

Matthew Knowles says Beyonce and Jay Z have been trolling y’all for ticket sales.

Here goes Matthew Knowles talking again.

Beyoncé’s father has suggested that his daughter and her husband Jay Z deliberately circulated divorce rumours to boost ticket sales for their On The Run tour.

Mathew Knowles made the shocking claim while appearing on The Roula And Ryan Show on Houston radio station 104.1 KRBE earlier this week.
Mathew claimed these things are hyped ‘sometimes to ignite that tour.’ He explained: ‘It’s called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times.’

According to Radar Online, he added: ‘I know, because we’ve done this. From experience, there’s a tour going on.’

Reeling from what Mathew was implying, hosts Roula Christie and Ryan Chase were quick to ask if his youngest daughter Solange and son-in-law Jay Z ‘knew’ their infamous elevator fight in May was being recorded and if ‘they wanted to get it out there.’

Keeping coy, Mathew said: ‘All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone’s talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up 200 per cent!’

{Daily Mail}

You know what? I absolutely believe him. And that’s what these news outlets get! Out here pining for clicks and sales by counting on the demise of a marriage? I HOPE Bey and Jay have been trolling y’all in the most epic of ways!

It just didn’t make sense to me. This is what I wrote previously:

On the other, all I’m thinking is this:

Here is a woman who kept an ENTIRE ALBUM, about 82 music videos for said album, her pregnancy, relationship, marriage, movie trailer just for fun, ALLLLLL of that…a secret, but now there’s suddenly all of these sources who know EVERYTHING that’s going on in their marriage? And after knowing there’s a source telling everything, they’re gonna continue to be open with said source?

K.

This is my hope. I hope that Bey and Jay are trolling every single media outlet with this. I hope that they are setting people up to be “sources” and I hope that they all end up looking really dumb in the end.

Anyway. So now watch this (via Daily Mail):

The 63-year-old music executive then went on to hint that a Destiny’s Child reunion tour could be coming very soon.

‘Folks don’t know it, but I am still the manager of Destiny’s Child,’ he said. ‘When you see Destiny’s Child on TV and you see them doing songs together slowly, slowly – now they’ve done two, they were recently on TV – I don’t know, it might be another Destiny’s Child album coming.

‘There might be this tour that makes history, Destiny’s Child featuring Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle. Can you imagine what that would be like?’

You know what this reminds me of? This reminds me of a kid who is last to be chosen to play on someone’s kickball team and waves their hand and is like, “Hey! I’m still here!!!” Matthew is still trying you affirm his relevance, y’all.

This can go one of two ways. One, Beyonce poor him up to all of this yapping and he’s simply following directions. This meansI’ll bebiting Destiny’s Child concert tickets soon. Or two, he’s talking too much and Beyonce will continue to ignore his life.

We shall see.

Soooooo did they happen to talk about this new baby situation, or nah?

Salt Lake City: Cop shoots unarmed man, Police Chief refuses to give details

This should be against the law. How does one kill another human being, but all the details are withheld? And ONLY because of the occupation of the killer?

Salt Lake City, Utah – Police received a report about a man waving a gun at a convenience store. When officers arrived, three men were exiting the store after making their purchases. The police opened fire and killed one of the men who was reportedly unarmed.

The entire incident was captured on an officer’s body camera; however Police Chief Chris Burbank is refusing to release the video citing “due process.” He is also withholding the officer’s name.

Dillon Taylor received no such “due process.” He was reportedly wearing headphones and was unable to hear the officers’ commands. Dillon’s brother, Jerrail, who was with him at the time of the shooting said

“He couldn’t hear them, so he just kept walking. Then … they had guns pointed at his face. That’s when he turned off the music. I saw them point guns at my brother’s face, and I knew what was going to happen. He got confused, he went to pull up his pants to get on the ground, and they shot him.”

The incident has spawned protests, and the Police Chief refused to compare the incident to Mike Brown’s death stating

“This is not Ferguson.”

{The Anti-Media}

Murder.  That’s what these police officers are getting away with.  Flat out murder. And they are hiding behind the shield to do so. It’s shameful and disgusting.

Also, there’s this:

Withholding the officer’s name also fails to meet common practices by the police department. The police are holding the officer’s name and the body camera footage until their investigation is complete. The department routinely releases the names of suspects. as well as footage, prior to completing an investigation.

Where is the oversight? Where is the transparency? WHO CHECKS THE POLICE?

Here are a couple of comments that were below this article…

Its time the police get the same treatment as our military! They cant shoot till fired on.

^^ Yes.  Let’s do that.

They need time to go and dig up some dirt on the victim before the tape is released.

^^Nothing but truth, here.

In this situation the victim is Hispanic, and we don’t know the ethnic background of the police officer.  All that Chief Burbank gave was that he “is not a white officer.”

This brings up a great question someone brought up on a post I put up about body cameras on police officers (re: Ferguson). Who will be able to view the cameras?  Will there be transparency? Or will it be a case like this, where the police get to keep the footage away from the public?  If that’s the case, then what’s the point?

Nick Gordon (Bobbi Kristina’s brother-husband) Arrested for DUI

Chile…

ROSWELL, Ga. –The husband to Whitney Houston’s daughter, Nick Gordon, was arrested on charges of DUI just before noon Thursday afternoon near Roswell.

Roswell Police tell FOX 5 News that Gordon’s BMW sedan was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Holcomb Bridge Rd (GA 140) near the intersection of Barnwell Rd.

According to the report from police, “Preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle attempted to change lanes, struck a curb and overturned, striking a fire hydrant. There were no injuries reported and no one was transported to the hospital.”

“Gordon was arrested and taken to the Roswell Detention Center on charges of DUI Less Safe, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Driving With a Suspended License where he remains at this time” officials add.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the wreck, authorities say.

{My Fox Atlanta}

Not shocked.  Sadly, it’s only a matter of time before they both self-destruct.

I’ll wait for Bobbi Kristina to start tweeting about her “haters” and “God has me,”  etc.
