Systemic/Institutionalized Racism (perfectly) explained in under 7 minutes.

Systemic Racism.

Systemic racism occurs when the way a society is structured systematically ends up giving advantages to some and disadvantages to others.

It may be helpful… to think about the criminal justice system… not as an independent system but rather a gateway into a much larger system of racial stigmatization and permanent marginalization…. The vast majority of conviced offenders will be descriminated against, legally, for the rest of their lives – denied employment, housing, education, and public benefits. Unable to surmount these obstacles, most will eventually return to prison and then be released again, caught in a closed circuit of perpetual marginality. I’m just gonna leave this here.
