The Fire Challenge {Video}

Or should I say The How Dumb Are You challenge because 1) this is dumb AF and 2) it’s gotta be a competition on who is more ignorant, foolish, and dumb out of your peers.  That’s what it’s gotta be.

Check this out.

The following (obviously) isn’t about the boy in the above video…

A 15-year-old boy has died after participating in a game that is circulating on the popular social network FaceBook. James Shores was burned to death after his entire body was engulfed in flames.

The #FireChallenge involves covering your body with an accelerant and setting yourself on fire. One’s friends will then video the act and share it on the internet. The imbecilic act is supposed to elicit laughter as onlookers and internet viewers watch the reaction from the party who is on fire.

Shores doused himself with alcohol and was set ablaze by his friends. Those who participate in this “game,” usually do so inside of the shower in case the fire spreads. In Shores case, he was not near the shower or any other water source. His friends battled unsuccessfully to put the fire out, and he later died from his injuries. {source}

Um. Yeah. Setting yourself on fire WITH. AN. ACCELERANT. can lead to death. But. Y’all got it.

About the above video…..Y’all…his damn mama was there recording.

Sometimes I feel as if there’s just no hope for these kids, for real.  And I look back at my youth, and I’m sure there are things we did that made them think we were destined to fail….but this?  Maybe I just wasn’t around the kids who were doing things like this but I don’t think I ever heard of it happening.

I also saw a video of some teens playing “The Pass Out Game.”  PURPOSELY restricting the flow of oxygen to their brains. For fun. Passing out. For fun. Look at this:

What is wrong with y’all?

They demonstrate how to hyperventilate or asphyxiate yourself — or someone else — to achieve a euphoric high.

The videos might not be anything new — they also pop up as “blackout,” “space monkey,” “flatliner” or “suffocation roulette” — but over the last few months, they seem to be gaining more popularity.

And as more and more kids are gambling and cheating death, parents are expressing concern.

“These children don’t know what they’re doing, and you have those children who are disconnected from their parents and adult figures, so they’re really adapting to social media,” said parent Tyrica Moore. “And they think that is fun, and it’s a game and other children are trying it.”

In the pass-out game, children are depriving themselves of oxygen until they lose consciousness and either fall into their friends’ arms or fall to the floor, which can produce a woozy, sometimes euphoric high.

But that high comes with dangerous health risks, according to Dr. Matthew Locklair, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at the Wolfson Children’s ER at Baptist Clay

“You can actually affect their heart primarily,” Locklair said. “If you hit it at the right time or during a different part of the cardiac cycle, you can actually stop the heart altogether and go into cardiac arrest.”

In some of the videos, people are pushing on the children’s chest, which can cause other problems. It can stimulate the vagal nerve, which can cause your blood pressure and heart rate to drop and decrease the oxygen in your brain even more.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 82 people under the age of 18 died after experimenting with the pass-out game from 1995-2007. {source}

Again, what’s wrong with y’all?  THIS is the chance you’re taking…for a GAME? THIS is how you’re willing to die?

If you’re a parent with a child in middle/high school (maybe even elementary, I guess!), I suggest you have a conversation with them about these things.  It’s not a joke.  It’s not a game.  It’s literally life or death.

Mimi Faust “Admits” That Her P*** Was Professionally Filmed?

Well well well.  Lookie what we have here.

I peeped this from Bahamas Press (remember, the Bahamas is where her tape was “stolen” from No No Nikko):

Atlanta, GA- Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta cast member, Mimi Faust, has finally confessed that her alleged “leaked sex tape” featuring her boyfriend, Nikko Smith, was staged. Faust claims the sextape was filmed in a hotel downtown Atlanta with a professional film crew of about five. As most have already suspected, Faust claims the sextape was produced with the hopes of acclaiming fame like the leaked sextapes of socialites Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. Initially, Faust and Smith claimed that their leaked sextape was a result of stolen bag from a Bahamas airport which contained the scandalous footage. Now Mimi Faust has opened up about the tasteless sextape, “I just wanted to find a way to stay relevant and make some major cash for my family’s security,” she says. Prior to the release of the sextape, producers of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta were considering getting rid of Mimi Faust because her character was “too boring and bland”.

Sources claim that Mimi Faust, ex-girlfriend of hit maker Stevie J, is very jealous of the attention one cast mate in particular. “She was tired of all the attention this one particular cast mate was receiving and wanted to upstage her this season”, claims Faust’s close associate. We can only assume she is speaking of rapping Puerto Rican princess and now wife of Stevie J, Joseline Hernandez, but that has not been confirmed. Faust has stated that she now regrets the sextape and hope to buy back the rights from Vivid Entertainment, a leading pornographic film production company. “I am ashamed of myself and I owe my daughter, friends, family and fans an apology for my poor attempt to gain superstardom,” says Mimi Faust.

Despite being terribly boring, tasteless, and crude with a huge dose of salaciousness, Mimi Faust and Nikko Smith’s Scandal in Atlanta film has been reported by TMZ as being of the most pirated pornos of all time, overtaking Ray J and Kim K’s sextape.

(I’ve looked around to see if the source is satire, but it seems as if it’s legit?)

GIRL!  I mean DUH!

Every single time she lied about that tape being homemade I was just like..

Ain’t nobody believing those lies of yours, Mimi!!!

She looked like a damn fool letting Niccollette convince her to keep on lying when the truth was OH SO OBVIOUS. Shame on you, ma’am. Get it together.

Kim Kardashian Comes For Adrienne Bailon

Whew. Sooo listen.

Adrienne Bailon did an interview and basically said that her appearances on Keeping Up With The Kardashians hurt her career.

Now, I’ll be honest and say I had to go look her up because I’m just not sure what she does.  3LW. Ok. Cheetah Girls. Ok. Did a little digging and I do see where she had some solo songs….the last of which was in 2009.

Anyway, Fox News reports:

Kim Kardashian’s relationship with younger brother Rob came under scrutiny when he skipped out on her wedding to Kanye West in Italy earlier this summer, but Kim is definitely still keeping up with Rob.

The reality TV starlet took to Twitter to jump to her brother’s defense after his ex-girlfriend Adrienne Bailon revealed he had cheated on her in a recent interview.

Bailon told Latina, “It’s common knowledge that he cheated on me… He strategically planned things out so that he could cheat on me, and that to me was so disloyal.”

She then went on say her appearances on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” while the two were an item hurt her career.

“To be stuck with that Kardashian label, that was so hurtful to me and to my career. I probably realized that too late — not that it would’ve affected my decisions in terms of who I dated, but it would’ve affected my decision to appear on the show.”

LOL. Anyway, so Kim Kardashian took to Twitter…

Then Julissa Bermudez chimed in (thanks for pointing it out to me, Spec!)…

Hmm. I don’t know about this reaction, Kim.

The interesting thing is that Kim got a little feedback when she tweeted about “Family Forever” in regard to Rob.  Looks like people weren’t even aware that she even likes her brother.

Oh look at how that first guy stole this tweet. LOL. SMH

Whew.  The people be knowing.

SHOTS FIRED: Nelly on Floyd Mayweather

If you aren’t aware, Nelly has been dating Floyd Mayweather’s ex-fiancee.

Welllll this happened…

So.. Earlier today Nelly appeared on Highly Questionable with Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones. They spoke about Nelly’s infamous music video ‘Tip Drill’ and also asked him about his beef with Floyd Mayweather.

For those that don’t know, Nelly has been dating Mayweather’s ex-fiance Shantel Jackson for a few months and spent her birthday with her this past weekend as they showed numerous pictures of them cuddling on Instagram.

Dan Le Batard: Can you give us the history of your beef with Floyd Mayweather ?

Nelly: I don’t have a beef with Floyd Mayweather. I think the whole thing is misunderstood. I try to understand where he’s coming from which is a little hard to do. It’s one of things that he is who he is. He’s one of those people that doesn’t like the word “no” said to him and I think if anybody does that, that’s what kinda gets underneath his skin a little bit. It’s kind of hard talking to a guy who hasn’t graduated from high school.”

Ohio Music Festival: R.Kelly Dropped After Protests

Yesterday I wrote about fans being the ones who can change what they will and will not allow from artists.  Here is a GREAT example of that.

R. Kelly has been dropped from the lineup of an Ohio music festival following complaints about his past as an alleged sexual predator.

The musician was slated to perform on the opening day of the inaugural Fashion Meets Music Festival over Labor Day weekend in Columbus, Ohio. But following numerous complaints on Twitter and Facebook and bands and vendors reportedly pulling out of the event, the festival tweeted Monday that it and the musician “have decided to part ways,” linking to a USA Today article about the decision.

Kelly’s publicist also released the following statement to USA Today: “R. Kelly is sorry to disappoint his fans but looks forward to seeing them in the near future during one of his upcoming tours.”

After Kelly was announced as a performer, numerous complaints were posted on Twitter and Facebook, mostly about his past as an alleged sexual predator, USA Today reported. Kelly was indicted in 2002 on charges of making child pornography and was acquitted in 2008.

The Chicago Sun-Times also ran an investigative series portraying the musician as a sexual predator.

One of the comments retrieved by USA Today said, “It’s actually very common for sexual predators to put on a good show. That is how they lure their victims.” Rape victims responded to the Kelly booking with “sheer horror,” another Facebook user wrote. “That’s why we are upset. Support victims of sexual abuse and don’t ignore them.”

Another user said, “Accepting R Kelly as an artist is to ignore the fundamental basics of human dignity. It’s not like he’s just a player and folks don’t dig it. A very real line was very clearly crossed and this is how we choose to express our disdain for the deeds and support for the victims.”

While everybody doesn’t see the wrongdoing of R. Kelly, I am glad that those in charge listened to it’s audience and their community’s concerns with him performing.

If you haven’t read the (very long) account of R. Kelly and his predatory behaviors (and cover-ups), then take a peek at THIS article and judge for yourself.
