Amber Rose shares her family’s views on African Americans

Amber Rose appears on “Light Girls, which aired Monday (1/19) at 9 p.m. (EST) on OWN.

During her interview, she shares that the majority of her family didn’t show up to her wedding to Wiz Khalifa because he is black.

“With my family, they feel like they’re more superior or better than an African American because we’re Creole and we have culture and that’s something I battle with most of my life,” she explained in a sneak peek of Light Girls airing Monday night. “It’s more of the older people in my family.”

Rose goes on to infer that some of her family didn’t attend her wedding because she married an African American.  To this day, that reality still upsets her tremendously.

“It’s such a sensitive subject that it’s hard to explain yourself without sounding mean or bitter or angry, but I am,” she shared. “I’m angry that my family is like that and they want to pass so bad that they raise my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture.”

She added, “Our younger generation, we’ve embraced it so much and I feel like that’s why my father is white.”

{E!}

Wow. I had no idea. She was in a horrible position. I know she said she tries not to be bitter or angry about it, but that’s really good reason to have those emotions.

I wonder if her family has embraced her son.

It looks like she is really hurt from all of this. Again, a horrible position to be in.
